A motion of affiliation to the PTUDC was successfully passed
at the meeting of the University
of East Anglia Union Council
on 21st February. The Union is now officially affiliated and an
emergency motion on Pakistan
was also passed to be sent to the NUS Executive in time for the National
Conference.

On Saturday February 23rd over 10 supporters of the
PTUDC in Montreal attended a workshop about the recent elections in
Pakistan. The workshop was hosted by the International Marxist
Tendency.

The Nigerian comrades have provided us with a small photo gallery (gallery2/main.php/v/mayday08nigeria/) of the May Day celebrations in Lagos (see article (nigeria-2008-may-day-celebrations.htm)). We also received some more photos (gallery2/main.php/v/mayday08pakistan/?g2_page=6) of the May Day activities of the PTUDC in Karachi, Pakistan (see article (may-day-pakistan-2008.htm)).

We received this report with some delay, but we believe it
is important as it shows how the PTUDC is sinking roots inside the labour
movement in this important part of the Sindh region, gaining the support of 19
trade unions.

Lal Khan was speaking
in Birmingham on June 1 at a meeting organised
by the local PTUDC, where he outlined the developing crisis in Pakistan and
highlighted the need for socialism as the only answer to the problems of the
workers and peasants.

A marvellous Marxist
Summer Youth School in Pakistan was held at Fort Minro (near D.G. Khan) on
29-31 August. Even under the difficult objective conditions when an economic
onslaught against the working class is taking place in Pakistan, about fifty
comrades participated from all over the country.

Last year, we helped lead a successful campaign against Facebook's privacy invading beacon program. When Facebook refused to drop Beacon, we got their advertisers to drop them. When Facebook said they dropped Beacon, we showed that they lied.
